Collaborative members from 14 countries came together in Liverpool, UK for the Annual International Collaborative Meeting – 4th – 7th December 2017.
Starting with clinical site visits to the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trusts’ (RLBUHT) Academic Palliative Care Unit, delegates took part in a 24 hour research colloquium and a one-day UK conference – Compassion,Care and Clinical Excellence in Hospital Palliative Care – at the historic Liverpool Medical Institution. The International Collaborative also held its AGM and Executive meetings.
Speakers at the Compassion, Care and Clinical Excellence in Hospital Palliative Care conference, organised by the Palliative Care Institute, University of Liverpool, included Aidan Kehoe, Chief Executive of the RLBUHT who introduced the conference, Professor John Ellershaw (Chair), Professor Carol Johan Furst (Lund University, Sweden), Professor Mark Boughey (Melbourne, Australia) and Dr Susie Wilkinson (Palliative Care Institute, Liverpool, UK). Guest speakers included Sir Tom Hughes-Hallet of UK volunteer programme Helpforce and Claire Henry MBE, Director of Transformation and Improvement at Hospice UK.
Professor John Ellershaw said, “We would like to thank all our Collaborative members and guests for their contributions throughout the week as speakers, workshop facilitators and participants. The conference has been a resounding success and we look forward to convening again in 2018.”
Next year’s Annual International Collaborative Meeting, incorporating the 5th International Conference, will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in November 2018. Watch this space for more details as they become available in the New Year.
